Themed Rhymes

Saying rhymes while skipping rope is a great way to join sport and rhymes! Try these:

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, show your shoe,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, please skiddooo!

The jumper actually does these moves while jumping: turning around, touching the ground, showing her shoe, and jumping out on the word “skidoo.” Here’s a second version: “please skidoo” is replaced by “that will do.” Then it continues:

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, climb the stairs,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say your prayers
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn out the light,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say good night!

I’m a little Dutch girl dressed in blue,
Here are the things I like to do.
Salute the Captain,
Curtsy to the queen,
Turn my back on a big submarine!

You could jump out at this point, but really good jumpers and/or hams would continue with this:

I can do a tap dance
I can do a split
I can do the polka just like this!

A Little Ball, A Bigger Ball {from the Best Kids Book Site}

A little ball
(clasp hands)
A bigger ball
(hands apart)
A great big ball I see
(big arc)
Now let’s count the balls

(big arc)
(hands apart)
(clasp hands)

Bend and Stretch

Bend and stretch, reach for the stars
There goes Jupiter, here comes Mars
Bend and stretch and reach for the sky
Stand on tip-e-toe, oh! so high!
